Hoya sp. Sabah belongs to the Apocynaceae family and originates from the humid tropical forests of Sabah state, located in northern Borneo. This region is a biodiversity hotspot, hosting numerous Hoya species, many still scientifically undescribed. The designation "sp. Sabah" indicates that the species has not yet been formally classified, being identified by its place of origin.

The leaves of Hoya sp. Sabah are oval, medium-sized, with a thick, slightly succulent texture that allows them to retain water efficiently.
